We suggest all fabric be washed and ironed prior to fabric being cut and pieced.
Directionally press all seams as you are piecing your quilt top, this will prevent puckering during the quilting process.
Iron your quilt top once the top is complete. Some minor travel wrinkles will occur. A touch up ironing will be done prior to loading your quilt on the longarm. This assumes the quilt has been ironed prior to shipping. If there are significant wrinkles in the quilt, there will be a charge for ironing.
All seams must be securely sewn together
Quilt top should be square and flat. This will eliminate any puckers during the quilting process.
Loose threads should be clipped.
If the quilt top is directional, pin a label on the top of both the quilt top, and the backing to enable the backing to be aligned to the quilt top.
Any concerns regarding possible issues with the top will be discussed with the customer upon receipt of the quilt.
If the backing fabric is directional, pin a label on the top of both the quilt top, and the Backing to enable the backing to be aligned to the quilt top.
Backing must be cut 8” wider and longer than the quilt top
If the backing needs to be pieced, an ironed open 1/2” seam will provide the best outcome. If possible, we prefer the seam to run the width of the backing. This allows the quilt to lay flat on the rollers. We understand this is not always possible.
Gulf Cove Quilting can piece the backing at an additional charge if necessary.
If customer provided, batting must be cut 8” wider and longer than the quilt top.
Gulf Cove Quilting stocks Hobbs 80/20 Heirloom and Hobbs Heirloom 100% Cotton batting at a per yard charge. If you prefer a different brand, please let us know and we can special order what you request.
Binding services are optional.
If requested, binding must be provided with the quilt.
If binding services are requested, Gulf Cove Quilting will machine stitch the binding to the quilt front, and hand sew the binding to the back.
Place your quilt top, backing, and any other components of the quilt if necessary (binding, batting) in a clear plastic bag.
